Frequently asked questions
Is Nosht suitable for dental hygienists and therapists?
Yes. Nosht templates are role-aware. Hygienists see 17 by default (examinations, radiograph report, referral letter, periodontal assessment and BPE recording, root surface debridement (Step 2 NSPT), perio review / supportive periodontal care, scale and polish, guided biofilm therapy, fluoride varnish, fissure sealant, implant review / maintenance, tooth whitening (on a dentist's prescription), inhalation sedation and medical emergency); therapists see 22, adding filling, composite bonding, Hall crown, pulpotomy (primary teeth) and simple extraction (primary teeth only). The choice follows the tasks the GDC Scope of Practice guidance (2025) names for each title. All 50 templates stay available from Settings → Display. You select structured options, copy the finished note, and paste it into your practice management system.
Which Nosht templates are most useful for DCPs?
The examination, radiograph report and referral letter templates, the periodontal set (BPE/periodontal assessment, RSD, perio review / SPC, scale and polish, guided biofilm therapy), fluoride varnish, fissure sealant and implant review are shown to hygienists and therapists by default; therapists also see filling, composite bonding, Hall crown, pulpotomy and simple extraction (primary teeth only) templates. All 50 templates are included on every plan and can be shown from Settings → Display — there is no separate DCP tier.
Can I use Nosht for direct-access patients?
Nosht helps you document the care you provide to the same standard as a dentist. What you may and may not do under direct access is a regulatory matter — see our guide to the GDC scope of practice for hygienists and therapists for the detail. Nosht is documentation software, not clinical or regulatory advice.
Does Nosht store patient data?
Your clinical notes hold no patient identifiers — only clinical descriptors, which you copy and paste into your PMS. There are two exceptions, both optional: the Referral Letter template, where you choose to enter patient details (name and date of birth, with NHS number, address and contact optional); and Send Leaflet, which processes a patient's email address or mobile number solely to deliver a patient information leaflet. Nosht does store the notes and drafts you save, plus your account details and template preferences, encrypted and held in London, UK.
